Personal Trainer Cost in Hollywood: 4 Price Tiers and What Each One Gets You

personal trainer cost in Hollywood Fitness Covered

Personal trainer cost in Hollywood runs anywhere from about $60 to well over $300 a session. Most people end up paying $75 to $150 for an hour of one-on-one coaching at a gym or private studio. Where you land depends less on the trainer’s talent and more on what’s bundled into the price.

I own a studio on Sunset, so I hear the price question every day. Here’s how the market actually breaks down, so you can compare apples to apples.

The 4 price tiers for personal training in Hollywood

Tier one is the trainer at a big chain gym. Sessions there often start around $60 to $100, but you almost always pay a monthly membership on top. You’ll get a coach for the hour, and the gym floor will be busy.

Tier two is a private or boutique studio. This is the $75 to $150 range, and it’s where most one-on-one training in Hollywood happens. Fewer people on the floor, more attention, and usually more help between sessions.

Tier three is in-home or mobile training. Expect $100 to $180 a session, because the trainer is paying for drive time and bringing equipment to you. It’s convenient, but you’re limited to what fits in their car.

Tier four is premium coaching. Trainers with celebrity clients, specialists, and luxury clubs charge $175 to $300 or more. Sometimes it’s worth it. Often you’re paying for the name. If you want to lower the per-session price, small group or semi-private training at a studio usually runs $40 to $85 per person.

What’s included matters more than the rate

A $90 session and a $130 session can end up costing the same once you add everything up. Before you compare personal trainer cost in Hollywood, ask four questions. Is there a gym membership on top? Is nutrition coaching included or extra? Does the trainer program the days you’re not with them? Do you keep the same coach every session?

Those answers change the math fast. A cheap trainer plus a gym membership plus a separate nutrition app is three bills and three people who never talk to each other. The American Council on Exercise also suggests checking certification and experience before you talk money at all. A low price with the wrong coach is still a bad deal.

How to figure out personal trainer cost in Hollywood per month

Here’s the formula I give people on intro calls. Multiply the session rate by how many times a week you’ll train, then multiply by 4.3 weeks.

At $90 a session twice a week, that’s about $774 a month. At $130 twice a week, about $1,118. One session a week cuts those numbers in half. That’s a fine way to start, but most people need two a week before the results feel steady. I wrote more about what to expect at your first session if you’re still deciding whether to start.

Then add anything the rate doesn’t cover. If you’d also be paying a gym $50 to $250 a month, put that in. If you’d pay a nutrition coach separately, add that too. Now you have the real monthly number.

Packages, contracts and the fine print

Almost every studio in Hollywood sells packages. Buying 10, 20 or three months of sessions up front usually drops the per-session price. Month-to-month costs more because the studio carries the risk that you’ll stop showing up.

Before you sign, ask three things. What happens if you miss a session or need to cancel late? Can you pause if you travel or get sick? Does the package expire? A great rate with a strict 24-hour cancellation policy can cost you more than a slightly higher rate with some flexibility, especially if your schedule changes week to week.

Why the cheapest option usually costs more

The trainer who costs the most is the one you quit after a month. I see it constantly. Someone picks the lowest rate, gets a generic workout, plateaus or gets hurt, and stops. A year later they’re paying to start over.

Whatever tier you choose, set a clear goal with your coach in the first week and track it. Strength, body composition, how your clothes fit, how you feel at 3pm. If your trainer can’t show you that you’re making progress, the rate doesn’t matter.

Is a personal trainer worth the money in LA?

It is if it gets you to train consistently and you can measure progress. Most people who hire a trainer are paying for structure and accountability, not workout ideas. If you’ve started and stopped on your own more than twice, it’s usually worth it.

How many sessions a week should I budget for?

Two sessions a week is the sweet spot for most busy adults. One a week can maintain fitness or work as a start. Three a week moves faster but costs about 50% more, so it’s best for specific goals or deadlines.

Do Hollywood trainers charge extra for gym access?

Many do. Trainers at chain gyms need you to hold a membership, and some independent trainers charge a facility fee. Ask whether gym access is included in the session price before you compare rates.
